5. American Heart Association’s Healthy Living Resources
The American Heart Association has fought the pandemic since its early stages because we are dedicated to helping people live longer, healthier lives. The virus can cause serious heart complications and strokes in otherwise healthy people and individuals with heart disease and heart disease risk factors (like high blood pressure and diabetes) are at increased risk for severe complications from COVID-19.
A COVID-19 vaccination will protect you, your family and your community. To eliminate the virus and get back to normal, the American Heart Association encourages everyone to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible.
Many people may have missed their routine check-ups and annual physicals this past year. It’s easy to overlook preventative care when you have so much on your mind, but you can’t afford to let your health take a backseat. Routine doctor visits are an important way for you to stay healthy and strong to face whatever challenge comes your way.
If you don’t have a primary care office or unemployment has impacted your access to health care, resources like Federally Qualified Health Centers and Community Health Centers can help you find affordable coverage options.
It's up to you. Get informed, visit www.heart.org/pandemic.
6. COVID-19 AND FAIR HOUSING RIGHTS: What You Need To Know
The Fair Housing Act protects people from housing discrimination based on their race, color, sex, religion, national origin, disability, or family status. Most forms of housing, as well as other activities like buying homeowners or renters insurance, are covered under the Act. People who are infected with COVID-19 may also be protected under the protected classes covered in the Fair Housing Act.
